INDIVIDUAL counselling

My hope is to offer you a non-judgemental, collaborative space to navigate together what that brought you to counselling.

Whatever brings you here, I’m here to walk alongside you.

Trauma-informed care means emphasising your choice and empowerment and creating a non-judgemental and supportive environment that recognises your strengths and resilience.

relationship counselling

Relationships come in many different forms. We tend to think of relationship counselling as couples therapy, but relationship counselling can also be for friends, families and other important people in your life.

Relationship counselling might focus on improving communication, building or rebuilding intimacy, resolving conflict or something else entirely.

Please note Market Street counselling does not provide relationship counselling where there is active abuse or addiction, we recommend individual counselling instead.

Group counselling

Group therapy provides a unique place to explore who we are and what our values are by being within a group.

Interpersonal group counselling provides a different space to explore how the “self” is indivisible from our relationship to “others”.

Group Therapy can also provide a sense of community, support and skill-building.

Groups run for 10 weeks and are limited to 8 people.

Affordable Fee places

$75

I believe access to counselling should be affordable for everyone.  I have some places set aside for a reduced fee of $75 per session for individuals who hold a Health Care Card, full-time students at university or tafe and young adults living independently.

telehealth

Western Australia is a large state, and sometimes it can be hard to find help in your rural or regional community.

I offer telehealth appointments for people who live in country and regional locations, and also for people who simply prefer the flexibility of online counselling.

Telehealth is provided by secure video streaming.

support your community

I offer a 10% reduction in fees for people who are part of selected community and carer organisations.  In lieu of a fee reduction, you may request instead that 10% of fees be donated back to the organisation that supports you.

Market Street counselling provides counselling for Individuals, Parents and Families with a range of Diverse needs

  • Support for parents with medically complex children throughout the lifespan from diagnosis and at acute periods of ongoing care.

  • Support for all stages of relationships.

  • Anxiety & Depression
Anxiety can at times be a normal response to stress, however ongoing psychological distress and trauma can sometimes lead to heightened anxiety and depression that impacts wellbeing.

    Trauma
When someone is exposed to an event where they experienced actual or threatened death or serious injury - trauma may occur. Trauma can be acute; like witnessing a car accident or one off event; it can be chronic with ongoing exposure, or complex - often when the trauma includes an interpersonal nature.

    Stress
Everyone feels stressed sometimes, and not all stress is bad. However ongoing and unrelenting stress can have us feeling complete overwhelm and reduce overall wellbeing.

People who parent medically complex children can be juggling multiple needs; attending appointments, advocating with schools or healthcare providers, supporting other family members and working.

  • Grief
Anticipatory grief, disenfranchised grief and ambiguous loss can all be present in families with medically complex children and adolescents.

Support for those grieving the loss of a child.

    Loss
Loss can be cyclical and ongoing in nature with long term caring. You may be coping well for long periods of time and then hospitalisations, new diagnoses, increased symptoms or normal transition events (starting school, moving to adult care) may bring up heightened emotions and familiar feelings of loss.

Supportive, trauma-informed and empowering counselling provides space for both family resilience and the realities of long term caregiving.

  • I also support parents and adolescents going through difficult life changes including divorce, separation, grief and loss and trauma and other life transitions like becoming a parent, adjusting to a new diagnosis, moving to high school, identity development and leaving home.

  • Peer support groups for parents with LGBTQIA+ children, medical complexity, separation.

Peer support for adolescents and young adults.
