Individual Counselling
Sometimes everything in life gets a bit much for us to handle on our own. Professional counselling can provide a supportive place to work through life’s challenges in a confidential, non-judgemental and empowering way.
No matter what brings you here, whether it be difficult relationships or family dynamics, challenging experiences or painful life transitions, everyone deserves someone to listen without judgement - to be curious about what it means for you and together work on navigating a way through.
My approach
-

Trauma Informed Care
Trauma informed practice understands that trauma is common. As an approach it is holistic, empowering, strengths-focused, collaborative and reflective and promotes safety.
-

Integrative
Integrative counselling encompasses the whole person, taking into account individual mental, physical and emotional needs. It draws on understandings and approaches from a variety of modalities to create an individual approach for each person.
-

Interpersonal Process
An integrative and relational approach which focuses on the therapeutic relationship formed in counselling as a means for understanding patterns and ways of being and to create change.
-

critical and ecological Lens
A critical lens considers wellbeing from a wider perspective than the individual level, by understanding the wider impacts of socio-economic, cultural and contextual factors on peoples lives and wellbeing. An ecological lens understands that individual wellbeing is predicated on that of the family, community and societal conditions.

I review my fees on an annual basis at the end of each financial year and will provide you with one month's notice of any proposed fee increase.

I provide a limited number of places for a reduced fee of $75 for students at university or TAFE, young adults living independently and anyone with a HCC. What is your cancellation policy?
I require 24-hour notice of cancellation via text, phone or email to avoid an the full fee being charged. You will receive an sms reminder 2 days before your session.
If you arrive late for your session, I will unfortunately not be able to extend it as this would impact my other appointments.

Do I need a referral? Is counselling covered by medicare? do I need a mental health care plan?
Currently, Medicare does not cover counselling, although PACFA are currently working towards our inclusion. The good news is that you do not need a mental health care plan from your GP to access counselling and my services are priced accordingly.
Some professions are covered by Medicare, including psychologists, occupational therapists and social workers. Some of these professionals also provide counselling services as well as diagnostic services (including ADHD and Autism Assessments), which counsellors do not.
You should make your own decision about what kind of counselling best suits your needs, and I am happy to discuss options with you.
