Frequently asked questions
FAQs
How much are your counselling sessions?
My counselling fee is $100 for a 50-minute session. Sessions with more than one person, including couples and families, are $130 per 50-minute session. Group therapy is $40 per session for 10 weeks (10 x 2-hour sessions).
I review my fees on an annual basis at the end of each financial year and will provide you with one month's notice of any proposed fee increase.
Payments can be made online or by EFT before our session, or by card at the appointment. I provide a limited number of places for a reduced fee of $75 for students at university or TAFE, young adults living independently and anyone with a HCC. Please contact me to enquire about reduced fee availabilities.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require 24-hour notice of cancellation via text, phone or email to avoid an the full fee being charged. You will receive an sms reminder 2 days before your session.
If you arrive late for your session, I will unfortunately not be able to extend your session as this would impact my other appointments.
who can access your counselling?
Market Street Counselling provides counselling to individuals, couples, families and adolescents. For adolescents under 16 years of age, parental consent must also be obtained.
is your office accessible?
Market Street Counselling is on the first floor with no lift for wheelchair access. If you require other options for accessibility, please contact me to arrange alternatives, including telehealth appointments, or finding an accessible and confidential venue for counselling that I will source and provide at no additional cost to you.
I also provide limited home visit counselling after your initial first appointment on request. For more information see my support page.
is there parking or public transport nearby?
Market Street Counselling is located in central Fremantle. Fremantle Train Station is 250m from the office. The Woolstores on Cantonment Street currently provide the first hour of parking free. There are numerous other options for street parking around Fremantle for approximately $2.30 - $2.90 per hour. For Fremantle residents with a parking permit, parking is free before 11am and after 3pm, Monday to Friday.
Do I need a referral? Is counselling covered by medicare? do I need a mental health care plan?
Currently, Medicare does not cover counselling, although PACFA are currently working towards our inclusion. The good news is that you do not need a mental health care plan from your GP to access counselling and my services are priced accordingly.
Some professions are covered by Medicare, including psychologists, occupational therapists and social workers. Some of these professionals also provide counselling services as well as diagnostic services (including ADHD and Autism Assessments), which counsellors do not.
You should make your own decision about what kind of counselling best suits your needs, and I am happy to discuss options with you.
When are you open?
My hours are currently 10-3pm Monday to Thursday, and every second Saturday from 10-4pm. Appointment availability can be viewed by registering to the online portal.
On school holidays my hours are Monday to Thursday, 9-1pm.

Market Street Counselling opened this year and I am slowly building my client base. Currently I have no waitlist and appointments are usually available within 24-48 hours.
